The Jackson Zoo was formed in 1919 and proudly hosts an average of 200,000 visitors annually on its 110-acre property. Visitors to the zoo are treated to about 120 species of animals including chimpanzees, black bears, peacocks, African elephants, American beavers, cougars, Caribbean flamingos and more. Hungry visitors can check out the Elephant House Café and the Cool Cats Hut to get something to eat and souvenirs are available at the Jackson Zoo gift store. Zoo visitors also have the opportunity to ride the train and carousel.

The Jackson Zoo is accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and is known worldwide for its conservation projects. The Jackson Zoo is currently home to about 14 endangered species.
