Jackson Mississippi’s Governor’s Mansion was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975 and features mid-19th century architecture and furnishings. Volunteer docents who attended a training program conducted by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History give free tours of the Governor’s Mansion.

The current governor’s living quarters are adjacent to the historic Governor’s Mansion, but are not available for public tours. It is recommended that visitors call ahead before coming to tour the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion. The Mansion is closed sometimes for events hosted by the governor and other state functions and holidays. The Governor’s Mansion grounds are available for public use with some restrictions. Non-profit, historic and educational organizations are welcome to contact the Mansion curator for reservation information.
